Project introductions and potential career opportunities for veterinary graduates

Dear Wildlife enthusiasts,
Our today’s students show an increasing interest in local and exotic wildlife conservation, possibly driven by the increasing worldwide environmental concerns such as climate changes and correlated rapidly increasing extinction of a broad range of wildlife species.
It is our task and responsibility as a faculty to respond to the growing interest of our students in this specific scientific and clinical area. Organizing a student (and personnel) wildlife symposium seems an excellent medium to introduce several ongoing and planned research and clinical projects with emphasis on local and international (zoo-and) wildlife conservation.
As the majority of these projects have been or are being established in an international context, we had the opportunity to reach out to our international partners and networks, inviting several national and international key-speakers to our faculty. We hereby hope to raise awareness about which conservation efforts are being made at our faculty as well as to address the importance of our (inter)national partnerships in achieving this. Additionally, we aim to give our students a broad insight in potential future national and international career opportunities in clinical-or research-based wildlife conservation, and how to prepare for such a career, by panel-interviews with our invited speakers at the end of each day’s sessions.
